“You cannot help but feel relaxed here”
One of my favourite places in Ireland. Service is excellent, and the views are outstanding. You cannot help but feel relaxed here; it’s a true getaway. Ballina in itself has much to recommend, and the walks and park runs nearby are beautiful!
“Beautiful location”
Many thanks to the Ice House Hotel team. Beautiful location. We enjoyed our 2 night stay in the hotel. The room was nice and clean, and the SPA experience was excellent. I liked the public hall room which is kept in the old style. Very atmospheric.

I would recommend booking through the site as we got the Stay and Chill package at a very affordable price in the Heritage Suite.
The spa is amazing from the staff to the views and the amenities. We both had the signature massage with a mini facial and it was the most thoughtful and relaxing hour.

“Excellent facilities, views and staff”
Excellent facilities, fabulous views and the staff to match. We stopped at the hotel to use the thermal suites and for some food impromptu while in Ballina recently. Luckily, there was availability to use the thermal suites and they luxurious. Sensational views, the best relaxation room I’ve seen in a while and a sauna to bate the band. Breda and Co were so friendly as well. Thank you!
“Luxurious hotel on the River Moy”
Luxurious hotel on the River Moy. We stayed here for four nights, as we were in town for a wedding that took place at Belleek Castle if you can stand it! We splurged for one of the more expensive rooms – I don’t remember what they were called, but the wall of windows overlooking the river was just magnificent. The bar downstairs stays open till about midnight (at least on weekends) it was very welcome to have a glass of wine or a nightcap before going to bed. Breakfast was very decadent, comprised of a generous buffet as well as an option to order a full Irish breakfast – they even had a vegetarian option! I could not get enough of the brown bread. We had a spa morning, which was very relaxing as well.

“Stayed for two nights with my mum in a twin room. We loved our stay- the walk through the spa to get to our room set a lovely relaxed feel with the candles & beautiful smells. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river were fabulous. We had dinner the first night which was delicious and we also really enjoyed the breakfasts – a great variety of both cooked-to-order and buffet options. Soda bread was the best we had in Ireland- would love the recipe! The staff all really helpful and welcoming & the spa facilities are stunning.”

“Relaxing stay with great service and stunning views”
This hotel is special. My family visited for a special 70th birthday celebration. My parents stayed in the beautiful old house, in a spacious suite. My sister and I stayed in the more modern part of the hotel. Every bedroom overlooks the river Moy. The view and sounds of the river and surrounding Belleek forest create such a calm atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The design of the hotel makes it feel like you are by yourself. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food and cocktails were delicious. They offer both a bar and restaurant menu that appeals to all tastes. The service at the hotel was outstanding. From reception to wait staff, everyone we met was just lovely and made you feel so comfortable and relaxed. The spa is beautiful, with stunning views of the river. A short drive from Ballina, there is so much to offer in the surrounding area. We drove to Enniscrone beach for a walk, to the Céide Fields for a tour and out to Belmullet for a swim. It is a great base and we will definitely return. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend this hotel.
“3rd Time and Still Fabulous”
This was our third time staying at the Ice House Hotel. It was just as enjoyable as all previous stays. Our room was located down near the spa and overlooking the river which immediately makes you feel tranquil. We had dinner in the hotel that evening which was delicious and then walked up to a local pub where we enjoyed a few hours listening to a great trad session, something we hadn’t experienced since before covid, so that was such a treat. We had a lovely breakfast the next morning, the Ice House fry is always great quality, and then we went to the spa for our seaweed baths. This was a new feature since we last stayed and I don’t know if there are many experiences more relaxing than sitting outside in a hot seaweed bath, being served herbal tea and sorbet while looking at the River Moy flowing by. We spent some time afterwards enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi and other spa facilities. All of the staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and smelled amazing. As always, we got a great night’s sleep in the very comfy bed in our very quiet room. We both left feeling so refreshed and relaxed that it felt like we had been away for longer than one night. I cannot wait for our next visit!
“Stunning and Serene”
Booked two nights and was so tempted to extend our stay.
Our room was named Aquamarine and had stunning views over the river, as all the rooms have.
The bar was a great spot to chill.
Dinner was divine and had such great flavours, highly recommended.
Great walks in Belleek forest across from the hotel.
“Anniversary Trip Away!”
Had a fantastic stay, the room had an amazing view. The staff were very friendly and efficient, especially Katelyn, also the spa facilities I would highly recommend, are very professional and efficient. We are looking forward to our return visit, we will be back soon.

We had Sunday Lunch in the hotel in early March. Lunch beautiful, Ample choice, food delicious, Staff friendly, courteous and helpful, vistas from dining table lovely. A truly enjoyable Sunday experience. Will be back.
“Fantastic Break In The Ice House Ballina”
Just home after a wonderful trip to the Icehouse. What a fantastic time was had there and I would highly recommend it to everyone. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff were brilliant, the food was delicious and the ambience was first class. The Icehouse is a true Irish gem. We stayed in the Riverside suite which was top class. We had light lunch on arrival, I had chowder and Guinness bread which I must say was the nicest I have ever eaten. The spa treatments were divine, the therapists were so professional and friendly. I have no hesitation in recommending The Icehouse, Ballina and would love to return in the future.
“The Most Relaxing Stay”
I stayed in the Ice House recently and from the minute we walked through the door we felt taken care of. We had lunch before checking in and dinner in the evening, on both occasions, the food and the service was exceptional. The reception was welcoming and efficient, they made check-in, booked a slot in the spa and found our way around a seamless experience. We stayed in the Moy suite, which had beautiful views of the River and a sophisticated design. The award-winning chill Spa, was always somewhere I had wanted to visit and my high expectations were exceeded when we arrived. I would recommend booking the chill spa in the evening as the lights along the Moy are even better. All over the hotel, there are beautiful views and the staff are experienced and friendly. Cannot wait to return!
“Fantastic Stay At The Ice House Hotel”
Just returned home from a fabulous stay at the Icehouse Hotel in Ballina. Check-in was seamless. We stayed in the Lavender room. The riverside rooms are beautiful. The views of the river are stunning. The room itself was very comfortable. The Voya toiletries are a lovely touch. We had a light lunch on arrival and dinner in the restaurant later that evening. Food is delicious. The goat’s cheese starter was the best I’ve ever tasted and the fillet steak was cooked perfectly. Excellent wine list available. The breakfast was superb. Would highly recommend their eggs benedict. Special mention to Niall the General Manager and his wonderful staff. From start to finish the staff were so professional, friendly and helpful. The staff are a fantastic asset to the hotel. Rowan our breakfast waiter was a breath of fresh air. So cheerful. The outstanding feature in this hotel has to be their recently refurbished Chill Spa. By far the best spa I have ever visited. From the minute we walked into the Spa until we left, we were treated so well. We booked outdoor seaweed baths the first day. A must if you’re visiting the spa. Megan was my therapist for my Voya facial on the second day. So professional and friendly. My facial was amazing. The spa itself is very luxurious with two large outdoor hot tubes and many different areas to indulge your senses. I suggest you book your spa treatments early. Would highly recommend the Ice House Hotel. Will be returning.
“Will Return!”
Stayed for one night in the Bandra Suite with my husband. The Ice House exceeded our expectations. It’s a beautiful setting where you can unwind and relax.
The suite was stunning and so comfortable.
We ate in the bar/ restaurant for lunch and dinner and enjoyed both. A great selection of cocktails.
We used the spa also and it was beautiful.
“Beautiful Hotel In Ideal Location”
We just spent a wonderful weekend in the Ice House. From the moment we arrived until we departed it was a fabulous experience. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic. We had a Riverside room, which looked straight out onto the Moy. My wife had a treatment in the Spa which she enjoyed thoroughly. The Ice House is the perfect destination for a romantic break away.
“Mini-moon – Amazing”
We stayed here as part of our mini-moon in Ireland after our covid wedding. We had the most amazing stay. It is such a relaxing and refreshing place. It is a little hideaway in the middle of Ballina. The views of the river are gorgeous from the hotel and the spa experience is beautiful. We loved the food and we had a lovely waitress from Louth looking after us. She was very friendly and diligent at her job. Thank you all for a wonderful stay and we hope to return.

From the moment we arrived, the staff and overall experience were amazing! The food was amazing as were the servers in the restaurant. “The Best of the Staycation”
My sister-in-law and I stayed in the Ice House Hotel last week for 3 nights and enjoyed the break. Spotlessly clean throughout and all Covid measures adhered to. Had breakfast delivered to our room at no extra cost due to Covid, ordered the night before and arrived piping hot and delicious.
We had a hot stone massage and facial, one hour each treatment, so 2 hours of complete bliss, the best treatments I have ever had, the therapists were Shaunagh and Leanne and excellent at their job. Hot tubs are lovely also.
Overall 5-star break.
“The Best of the Staycation”
We stayed at the ice house last weekend and it was amazing. We stayed in a Riverview Suite, Wedgewood and it was beautiful. There was so much room and everything was finished so well. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. We got great massages and the spa is good despite the steam room etc being out of action. My only complaint is that we stayed at the beginning of our tour of the west of Ireland and no other hotel came close to compare to it!
“Amazing”
We’ve had such a gorgeous stay here at the ice house!! We stayed in the copper room, This hotel has been on my bucket list for a long time and it didn’t disappoint! We had seaweed baths and the girls in the spa were so nice, so welcoming and so accommodating!! We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant and the staff were all so good to us, especially Bart (Not the Simpsons) we had such craic with him, my partner proposed to me here and everyone was so kind and congratulating us!! It didn’t disappoint and We will be back ASAP!!
“Chill time”
The best hotel I’ve stayed in in a long time. The atmosphere is just so friendly and warm. Rooms are top class. The food is excellent. The staff are lovely and friendly. The bar is just so perfect. Good range of drinks. Sean the barman is very knowledgeable. He is great craic too. I will be back again for another relaxing and very enjoyable stay. Even the wet weather didn’t dampen our stay.

Such a fabulous venue. Luxury at its finest. We had a lovely meal, a stay overnight and a beautiful treatment in the stunning chill spa. Every bedroom is overlooking the River Moy. The staff are so professional and friendly.

This is my third time staying in the ice house and I love it just as much as the first time. I’ve come to realise this is the hotel standard I hold all other hotels to and why I never enjoy a stay elsewhere! We cannot say enough about the venue and staff of the Ice House. Our spa weekend away before my sister’s wedding was everything and more. From the moment we checked in we were taken care of. The spa and the staff were amazing. The restaurant and food were beautiful. A special thanks to Seamus who was so attentive to our table and running around making sure we had everything. It was a fabulous breakaway. Relaxing and great value for money. Thank you, Niall and the staff.
“Amazing experience”
Amazing experience from check-in to check out, staff so friendly and professional, food excellent, atmosphere in general wonderful.
The pinnacle of the experience was the room for me, it was out of this world. What a view I felt so at one with nature and spent some time meditating and a nicer setting I couldn’t have chosen.
Thanks so much to all the staff of the Ice House Hotel for such a memorable stay.
Looking forward to returning very soon and getting to use the spa facilities which unfortunately I couldn’t fit into my schedule this time.
“Really enjoyable stay at the Ice House Hotel”
We stayed in the Ice House Hotel last week for our wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have been happier. Our room was excellent and the view from it out along the river Moy was stunning.
The bar food and breakfast were excellent and the service and quality of the dining in the restaurant were simply out of this world. All the staff from the Reception, Thermal Spa, Bar, Restaurant were very helpful and their local knowledge was great.
We took a drive along a small part of the Wild Atlantic Way to Downpatrick Head and Ballycastle and saw some pretty amazing scenery.
The best part of our stay was the restaurant, well I like my food… It was top quality. No real dislikes

“Helpful staff and a great view of ducks”
The bedroom faces onto a wide river, so from your bed you can see lots of birds like herons, swans, and a cute little duck family with the baby ducks all swimming in a row behind the mammy duck 🙂 I also saw an otter while eating breakfast.

“Wonderful food and great view”
We stayed one night – dinner and breakfast. All rooms have a spectacular view overlooking the Moy river. The food was superb and the service excellent. It is a bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
“Sweet suite love for a first wedding anniversary”
Stayed here yesterday for our first wedding anniversary! We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing!! From start to finish it was all perfect! All the staff were so friendly and went out of there way with extra special touches to make our anniversary extra special! The spa this morning was so relaxing! Treatment was so nice! I actually didn’t want to come home today lol will definitely return.

The riverside suite were truly soooo comfortable, spacious and with some beautiful river views. The changing weather and storms of course created spectacular rainbows every day…not bad for a view from the bed.

I feel so rested after the trip away. The room had an amazing view out onto the river where we were able to observe lots of different wildlife. The spa was very nicely fitted out and the staff were very attentive. I loved the art on the walls. Everything was so tasteful. The food was very good. The vibes were chilled out. It was a really lovely relaxing trip away in a beautiful part of the world.

We had a fantastic time, It was faultless, your hotel, the facilities, the staff were all fantastic and couldn’t be more helpful, you gave us free use of the spa for our second morning as a token for our 25th wedding anniversary. the food was superb, the hotel is spotless and extremely comfortable. I was a chef for 30 years and worked all over. this was my favourite stay, even if only for one night.
“Brilliant Stay”
I can’t recommend the wonderful Ice House Hotel highly enough having recently spent 2 nights there. All the staff were superb, friendly, efficient and had a pride in their work. The bedroom locations are perfect- we felt we were on a cruise ship as the bedroom faced onto the flowing Moy river. The restaurant also faces this lovely view. The food was excellent including the delicious buttery scones! The manager Niall runs a great hotel and must be very proud of his great staff.

Spent a night here in March with husband. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Spectacular views of the river Moy from our spotless and comfortable modern room. Dinner was delicious. Breakfast buffet and cooked to order hot food were traditional but refined! Staff were attentive and friendly. A definite winner.

“Amazing Spa night away”
We were heading away to London for a few nights and booked a night at the ice house the night before as it was quiet close to knock airport. We had treatments booked for 12 noon on the first day. We went straight to the spa as knew our room wouldn’t be ready to check in. Elaine the spa manager greeted us and said she had our room key ready to bring us straight to our room after our treatment.
We relaxed in the beautiful relaxation suite before our treatments looking out on the water, pure bliss! My treatment with Celine, a voya scrub followed by a deep tissue massage was one of the best massage I’ve ever had. Celine was brilliant and really worked out any tension I had. Will defiantly request her if i return. My partner had a voya deluxe facial, cant remember his therapists name but loved his treatment. Used the hot tub after, amazing sitting out in the freezing cold in a hot tub in January. Our room was amazing; we were upgraded to a spa suite, water views, balcony two televisions, comfortable bed etc. Enjoyed a seaweed bath before bed which was set up in our bedroom bathroom, delivered with water herbal tea and candles.Breakfast the next morning was quickly served and fresh. Loved everything about our stay wouldn’t change a thing, will defiantly recommend and will be returning again soon even if just to use the spa. Thanks Elaine & everyone.
“We totally relaxed and refreshed our tired bodies”
I treated my husband to a night away, just us, just me and hubby – no kids… just packed a small bag, short drive from Galway to Mayo (very pretty too via maam)….and then arrived at the Ice House, greeted by a lovely setting, great bar, great restaurant, fantastic views and hot tub, outside – in the cool air. Then we relaxed in the relaxation room with fresh fruit and nuts… and magazines and again – a fantastic view. We loved our one night here and will return, it was lovely and quiet – yet the hotel was full – you wouldn’t notice, you would honestly think it was just your little secret – plenty of places to chill and chat… we loved it! and thanks to the staff for making it easy to relax too. Next time I’ll book a facial in the lovely spa!
“Great service and made us feel special”
Had a wonderful night at The Ice House. We were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our room which was upgraded to a suite. We went to the bar for a few drinks and the staff were very friendly and even dropped us into the town after the shift had finished. I found the staff went that extra mile to make us feel welcome and we will certainly be returning again.

I adore The Ice House. Views are stunning, rooms are perfection, food is great and service is top class. This is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, bar none. If you want breathtaking full length views of the river, go for one of the more modern rooms, if you like old world charm, a heritage suite…. Either way, you will be so relaxed and blissed out. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
